Did you miss us? Because same-game parlay predictions are officially back for the NBA Playoffs and Jake Moszkowski goes head to head against Huddle trader Domagoj. The play-in tournament (in its fifth iteration) begins on Tuesday, April 16th. Eight teams across the two conferences are vying for the final four spots in the NBA Playoffs. We’ll be tackling a rematch of last year’s playoffs in the Golden State Warriors versus the Sacramento Kings – call it a Battle of Northern California.
Jake's Picks:
In my opinion, the Warriors are rightfully favorites because of several factors, despite the teams splitting their seasonal series 2-2. The Warriors have dramatically more playoff experience on their roster, along with one of the league’s most surprising rookie contributors in Brandon Podziemski. The 6’4” guard out of Santa Clara was an unheralded first round pick for the Warriors, but he’s averaging 26 minutes per game in April, shooting better than 50% from the floor (including 3pt range) and hitting 100% of his free throws.
For me, this affair belongs to the Warriors – so I’ll be taking the Warriors moneyline. While Steph Curry is the best shooter of all-time, he averaged around 26ppg this season, and has only surpassed 29 points in 3 of his previous 9 outings. I’ll take Curry’s under in points, as I expect teammates like Klay Thompson, Jonathan Kuminga and Brandon Podziemski to shoulder some of the scoring load. I do think that Curry will hit at least 5 rebounds, a number he’s achieved in 5 of his last 6 games. On the Kings side of things, I’m banking on a big game from Kings star center Domantas Sabonis. I’ve taken the over on his points (O17.5) and assists (7.5) for this matchup. He’s averaging 19ppg and 8apg this season, and he went over 17.5 points in 3 of his 4 matchups with the Warriors, along with going over 7.5 assists in 3 of his 4 matchups as well.
Domagoj's picks:
Although the Warriors look way better than they did at the start of the season I would go here with the Kings. They are young and eager to prove they can do something in the playoffs. Last year they lost in the Western Conference First Round after blowing a 2:0 lead in the series.
This is why my bets mostly go on Kings players. Of course, Fox and Sabonis will be the key figures for them but they will have to rest sometimes and in my opinion, Murray and Barnes will step up and score some points. Sabonis is just to dominate and I see him having a massive game, especially under the basket.
And for my last pick, I took Steph Curry over assist. Here I just do not have any explanations. It's Steph so take it or leave it.
