SGP Challenge Week 9: Beat the Huddle Trader

Week 9 of the NFL season kicks off with a matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans and as usual, Jake Moszkowski is preparing to take on Huddle’s own Graham Eversden in a head-to-head SGP prediction matchup.

Josh Allen O249.5 passing yards ✅

Diggs O87.5 receiving yards ❌ (he needed 17.5 more yards...)

I’m beginning to think I’m cursed. For yet another week, I went 3 for 4 with my 4-leg parlay. This time, it was Stefon Diggs who let me down. He may have even (jokingly) predicted this would happen, and I took him in my parlay anyway.

Perhaps I should’ve been wiser and left Diggs off my prediction. Nonetheless, I’m heading into Week 9 feeling confident that I’ll finally hit my first four-legger of the season!

This week, we have a matchup between teams that honestly have me a little confused. The Steelers have a top-5 caliber defense, but sophomore QB Kenny Pickett hasn’t taken a step forward and might miss this game entirely. As a result, the Steelers offense (led by the much maligned offensive coordinator Matt Canada) appears relatively stagnant. Meanwhile, the Titans appeared to be going nowhere this season, as Derrick Henry finally looks to be slowing down - but the arrival of second round rookie Will Levis has inspired some optimism after he threw for four touchdowns in his debut appearance in Week 8.

Odds +821

I think the Steelers are going to run the ball, especially if Pickett is indeed out. As a result, I’ll take Najee Harris O45.5 rushing yards and Jaylen Warren O25.5 rushing yards. The Titans have a talented defensive front, but the Steelers might end up giving their backs 35+ carries in this game.I also think that Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins will go over 54.5 receiving yards in this game, as he looks to be Will Levis' safety blanket. He had 4 catches for 128 yards against the Falcons last week, and Steelers star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has been ruled out. Lastly, I think Will Levis, despite being in only his second career start, goes O204.5 passing yards and makes a name for himself against a talented Steelers defense. Let the games begin!

Graham's SGP Pick

Current SGP picks challenge ROI: -2.31

I watched a lot of the Falcons at Titans game last week, and while Will Levis beat my expectations in that game, I will be very surprised if he can do it again on a short week against this Steelers defense. I don’t expect the Steelers to allow Hopkins to run free in the secondary so often, so Levis will have to work through his progressions and find other targets with the fearsome duo of TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith bearing down on him.

Odds +552

The silver lining for him is that the opposing QB, Mitch Trubisky, is also bad, so I don’t expect many points to be scored in this game.
