SGP Challenge Week 8: Beat the Huddle Trader

Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season starts tonight and with it, we have another edition of the Huddle SGP Picks Challenge. As always, Jake Moszkowski is preparing to take on Huddle’s own Graham Eversden in a head-to-head SGP prediction matchup, using any combination of prop markets available on the new Huddle SGP product.

Last week, both Graham and Jake came unbelievably close to hitting our 4-leg parlays. Each of them fell one leg short.

  • Alvin Kamara O51 rushing yards ✅ (finished with 62 rushing yards)
  • Jags 1H +0.5 ✅ (1H Jags -4)
  • Michael Thomas O50.5 receiving yards ❌ (finished with 42 receiving yards.

Jake Moszkowski's SGP Pick

Current SGP picks challenge ROI: -6.0

This week, we’ve got a matchup between two teams who both have three losses, but one of them is viewed as a disappointment and the other is viewed as a pleasant surprise. The Buffalo Bills are 4-3, after suffering an unexpected and frankly humiliating loss to the AFC East last place New England Patriots. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 3-3 in a season that many chalked up to a lost one after the retirement of Hall of Fame QB Tom Brady.

Odds: +1086

For me, I think these teams are probably closer in skill than one would imagine at first glance. The Bucs have the superior wide receiver core and the running backs are a toss up. Yes, Josh Allen is a far superior QB to Baker Mayfield, but Mayfield has been a pleasant surprise this year. The Bills are also missing key defensive contributors in CB Tre’Davious White and ILB Matt Milano. I think the Bucs will keep this one under a touchdown apart. I also think that Rachaad White will contribute more in the passing game than the rushing game, as he’s a better pass catching back than a pure runner in my opinion.

For the Bills, the keys to success lie with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs on offense. Allen has thrown for over 250 yards in four games this season, and I think he could have upwards of 30 attempts in this affair. For Stefon Diggs, he’s the WR1 for the Bills offense, and he’s gone over 100 yards in five separate outings this year. I think he sees double digit targets in this game and easily surpasses 87.5 receiving yards.

Graham Eversden's SGP Pick

Current SGP Challenge ROI: -1.31

For Graham, he’s going heavy on the Bills. Last week, the Bills snapped the Patriots 3-game losing streak by quite literally snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It was an embarrassing loss for Buffalo, a team with real Super Bowl aspirations. Luckily, they draw a short week to put those bad memories behind them with an average Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad in Buffalo.

Odds: +912

Graham sees Josh Allen bouncing back in a big way, performing at an MVP level from the start of the game onwards. He’s got the Bills jumping out to a huge first half lead, insurmountable for a team like Tampa Bay. The Bucs have a short week and don’t have a Bill Belichick-ian defense to slow Buffalo, even if Baker Mayfield is able to put up points against a depleted Buffalo defense. It won’t be enough to make the game competitive.
