SGP Challenge Week 2: Beat The Huddle Trader

To celebrate the release of the Huddle SGP, we thought we'd mark it with a friendly picks competition! A bit of rivalry in the Huddle ranks certainly won't hurt anyone .. except the loser.

Throughout the NFL season, Jake Moszkowski will go one-on-one with Huddle Trader Graham Eversden in an SGP challenge! Can Jake beat our esteemed trader and end the season with a better ROI on his SGP picks? We will find out..

First up, Jake vs Graham lines up at the Eagles vs Vikings game, let's see who they're picking.

Jake Moszkowski's Pick

A little head-to-head action never hurts anybody, right?

For Week 2 of the 2023 NFL Season, I’ll be facing off with Huddle Trader Graham Eversden to see who can build a better bet.

The game at hand? The Vikings and Eagles, Thursday Night Football affair. This is a marquee matchup of NFC contenders. The teams are oozing talent at the wide receiver position. There might not be a better duo in all of football than A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but there might not be a better receiver than Justin Jefferson. Both teams feature unheralded, yet capable running back options. The Eagles defense is more explosive, but they looked beatable against New England in Week 1, and the Patriots don’t have a receiver remotely close to Justin Jefferson.

This game offers quite a few parlayable betting options that I found intriguing.

The most obvious option to me was betting on the Eagles moneyline. I think they’re the better team. That said, I also think that Dallas Goedert is going to be held under 39.5 receiving yards. He’s one of the better tight ends in the NFL, but Jalen Hurts has a variety of options in the passing game, including two of the league’s best wide receivers in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. On the Vikings side of things, I think that Darius Slay is capable enough of holding Justin Jefferson under 89.5 receiving yards, but in return, I think Kirk Cousins is going to pepper Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson with targets. I’ll take the O39.5 on T.J. Hockenson receiving yards.

Odds: +754

Graham Eversden's Pick

The Eagles tend to be a first half team, and I like them to get off to a fast start again and win the first half. The Minnesota defense is significantly worse than the Bill Belichek-led defense the Eagles faced last week, so I expect the Eagles to move the ball comfortably. Trailing will force the Vikings to throw the ball to get back into the game, with Cousins going over 250 yards passing and Jefferson getting more than 90 yards receiving. Last year the Vikings had one of the best offenses in the league while trailing, so I expect them to move the ball even if they are stymied early.

Odds: +469
