SGP Challenge Week 10: Beat the Huddle Trader

Each week, Jake Moszkowski goes head-to-head with Huddle's trader, Graham Eversden in a Thursday Night Football SGP challenge using Huddles' market-leading NFL SGP product. Last week, Jake secured a victory with a winning 4-leg parlay. Can he repeat this week?

Jake's Week 9 NFL parlay finished:

DeAndre Hopkins O54.5 receiving yards ✅

Will Levis O204.5 passing yards ✅

Finally! After nine long weeks, I finally went 4/4 with my 4-leg parlay! It was a stressful game to watch, as I definitely found myself sweating the final leg (Will Levis O204.5 passing yards) but the day finally arrived. I joined Graham Eversden, our Huddle Trader, in the winner’s circle at long last with a winning parlay. Do you think I’ll take it easy this week and go for another 4-leg option? (Hint: I’m not going to do that).

Heading into this week, I once again find myself stuck – as the Thursday Night Football game features two dreadful teams. The Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers are a combined 3-14. The Panthers are led by rookie and #1 overall pick Bryce Young, who has struggled adapting to the NFL (a fact that looks worse because #2 overall pick C.J. Stroud has looked like an MVP-caliber QB). The Bears were expecting an improvement from incumbent QB Justin Fields, but Fields looked so/so for much of the first six games (save for explosive performances against dreadful defenses like Denver and Washington). Then Fields got injured and the Bears turned to undrafted free agent Tyson Bagent, who has thrown 3 touchdowns against 6 interceptions.

This game is almost guaranteed to be ugly. Despite the Bears’ obvious lack of appeal, I think the Panthers are the worst team in the league – so I’m taking the Bears moneyline in this affair. Now comes the fun part. I think Bryce Young is going to continue to struggle, and the Panthers will lean on the run game. So I’ll take Bryce Young U219.5 passing yards and Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard O41.5 rushing yards. With Young struggling, I’ll also take Adam Thielen U72.5 receiving yards, but I expect Hubbard to catch at least three passes, so I’ll also take him O13.5 receiving yards.

I’m excited to watch this game between two rookie quarterbacks who couldn’t have taken a more different path to the NFL. Bryce Young has struggled to start the season and currently doesn’t look like a top 3 QB of his draft class.

Tyson Bagent has been a turnover machine, but has been able to move the Bears’ offense up and down the field at times and looks like he deserved to be drafted. I think both QB’s are able to score points, but I think Bagent’s mediocre arm strength keeps him from finding DJ Moore on the the deep routes that Moore typically runs.
