SGP Challenge: Beat the Huddle Traders

Another week of Thursday Night Football SGP challenge is here! One go-around last week with Huddle CEO Francesco Borgosano for an SGP challenge is enough for me during the regular season!

Despite my faith in the Los Angeles Chargers, I was not rewarded. In fact, I went for 0/3 for the first time this season. Talk about a rough game. Meanwhile, Francesco’s faith in the Las Vegas Raiders paid off tremendously for him. The Las Vegas Raiders absolutely flattened the Los Angeles Chargers, winning by a score of 63-21. Meanwhile, seldom-used rookie tight end Michael Mayer recorded 4 catches for 39 yards and a score for the Raiders, giving Francesco a perfect 3/3 appearance in his lone showing representing Huddle. Color me impressed.

Here is a little recap of last week's result

Jake:

Las Vegas Raiders Under 34 ❌

Los Angeles Chargers Spread +3 ❌

Austin Ekeler Over 50 rushing yards ❌

Francesco:

Mayer Michael (Las Vegas Raiders) Total Receiving Yards O19  ✅

Mayer Michael (Las Vegas Raiders) Total Receptions O2.5  ✅

Las Vegas Raiders Moneyline  ✅

Jake's Picks

Heading into Week 16, I’m much more excited for this matchup, as it features two teams battling for a spot in the playoffs. When the New Orleans Saints travel to Los Angeles to face the suddenly hot Rams, the game will be tremendously impactful for both teams ahead of the NFL playoffs. As of now, the Rams are clinging to the 7th-seed in the NFC ahead, while the Saints are right behind them at 8th. Despite identical 7-7 records, the Rams win the tie break over New Orleans based on win percentage in conference games. A head-to-head win in this situation, with only three weeks left in the regular season, is huge.

So where does that leave me? As a fan of the Baltimore Ravens, I can certainly confirm the Rams are good. The return of running back Kyren Williams has completely changed their offensive fortunes, leaving them with a trio of playmakers between Williams, Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. I’m definitely taking the Los Angeles Rams moneyline, as I think the veteran team ekes out a victory to keep them afloat in the playoff race. I think Puka Nacua plays a big part in that victory, so I’ll take him O62.5 receiving yards. And perhaps most importantly, I think Kyren Williams is the X-factor in this victory – so I’ll also take him O89.5 rushing yards.

Both teams need a win to maintain their playoff hopes alive. Rams look way better than the Saint although they have 2 wins in a row, those wins came against weak teams ( Panthers and Giants). We'll take Staford any day of the week, especially in weeks like these when he faces teams like Saints.

In the last two weeks, Kupp has been pretty unstoppable averaging over 100 yards per game against strong teams and now he is facing Saints secondary which is ok, but nothing more.

Saints will probably throw the ball more than they will run it since we assume they will be trailing most of the game, this is why I took Kamara under. Also, his numbers this season have been worse than we are used to from him.

Regarding Saints offense generally, I do not trust them as much as I trust Rams defense. They are inconsistent and their division and opponents were not one of the toughest this year and this is the only reason they are in a spot to fight for a playoff spot.
